The Long Version

I was born and raised down the street from the Addison Blue Line in Chicago. After earning my degree in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State, I landed a job at Riddell in 2014 as a Product Engineer.

I didn’t get into the rave scene until 2015. My, now, wife was given some tickets to Lollapalooza on that Saturday and a friend took us to Perry's Stage. We hung out there the entire day and just couldn't get enough. That led us to Tomorrow World in Atlanta and I haven’t looked back since.

Then in 2016 I came across a DJ controller for the first time and I was instantly hooked. The way it let me control music, it was like nothing else. Fast forward to 2021: a group of us, flew down to Raleigh to throw a DIY EDM festival. It was such a hit that we did it again the next year, under the banner of The Mountain House Weekend.

During TMHW, my brother-in-law and I recorded our sets and launched a Mixcloud radio station called C2BB Radio. We thought the event was so much fun that we should put on more music and art events in Chicago.

After some brainstorming, we came up with the name Fundamental Frequency which eventually transitioned to funfreqs.

After setting up funfreqs.com, it was logo and merch time. My brother-in-law makes these crazy detailed collages [lindemangalleries.com], and one of them inspired me. After a bunch of iterations, I landed on what is now the Lasers design. I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed taking that design and making it into a clothing print.

Shortly after that I started making a concerted effort into writing my own music.

My dad made his living playing music and he taught me piano and guitar growing up. I saw how hard it was to raise a family as a musician which is why I went the day job route.

Yet, here I am, finding out that the passion for music was always in my blood.

So here is my current process: I start with writing a new track, then work on the album cover, and finally I use that design for the next clothing collection.

It can be a lot especially with the full time job and two kids, but it's become a true passion project for me.
